big, big, big socks

Recently Noah has these socks that he refers to as his big, big, big socks and refuses to wear them. Are they a little looser than the rest? sure. But he only wears them to bed (because he refuses blankets and yes the AC is cranked!). He used to wear them all the time and then one night he refused. And now everytime he sees them he tells me they are big, big, big and throws them on the floor. I try to not let him get into what I consider to be "ruts" because it feeds into the very structured life that he leads. So every night I take them out and every night he says, "no mom, those socks are big, big, big!" Last night I took them out and he said the same thing and I said, "but maybe noah's feet are growing and getting big, big, big and they will fit." He pondered that for a moment and then took them from me and put them on (by himself I might add). He definitely didn't like them, but was thinking about it. I said, "wow noah! look how big your feet have gotten! the big, big, big socks fit!" And that was it. For months the big, big, big socks have not been worn (there are several pairs) and now... as I sit here typing, they are still on his feet!

Noah has been doing great with his wooden trains. He configures them differently each time (not typical for Noah-- again, structure) and loves to put them together and then make the trains ride around. He has lots of tracks and they run throughout our family room floor. We pick them up each night and by 8am there is a new configuration. He loves it! By the way-- I got tons at IKEA for a great price and they work with Thomas. This, playing Dr. Noah and Tools are by far his favs of the moment.

Now, Ms. Reese. -- She is 10 days short of turning two years old. I cannot believe it. I feel like just yesterday I couldn't see my feet and was spending every waking minute at my high risk OB. Now, she's this beautiful little person with such strong will and so much compassion and empathy. She puts band-aids on her babies and comes to get me if one of them falls down. She is very concerned. She is always hugging them and taking care of them. She took a two inch plastic minnie mouse the other day and put a diaper (one of Reese's diapers) on her and then walked around holding this plastic thing like a baby. It was so funny. The only thing that concerns me lately (outside of her attachment to my hip) is that she is a big tattletail (sp?). Anything Noah does she tells me. She is me at age 10 writing things down that Wendy did wrong. But she' not even two yet! I have discovered that if I call anything a cookie, she'll eat it. So anything healthy is now a cookie. I am thinking about incorporating the word into every meal! She is a handful, but she is such a sweet, beautiful little person. :)

I need Noah to teach me how to configure train tracks. I'm incapable.
