we finally heard from the student assignment department for Pinellas county and Noah got into our first choice for schools. We are thrilled! As I previously wrote, we were not at all happy with the teacher he was assigned to at the school we are zoned at. We chose to do open enrollment at a new school. You cannot simply switch teachers because there is only one ESE (exceptional student education) teacher per grade or grades. Most ESE programs have one teacher for K,1st and 2nd grade. Then one does 3rd, 4th and 5th. This particular school, it looks like his teacher only teacher K and 1st so that's great. Only time will tell if it's a good match, but I am hopeful. As I say (and write) pretty frequently, there isn't time to waste when you are younger and in ESE. I wouldn't let him sit in a class with a teacher that doesn't like her job, doesn't care if the kids thrive and has a less than stellar reputation with the other parents. We have been extremely fortunate thus far and I have no doubt that will continue.
School starts Tuesday the 19th. More to come...
