our future olympian.

Just when I thought orthodics were just for Noah I was told otherwise. Reese is still walking on her toes and the high-tops are not preventing it or slowing her down one bit. I went to the pediatrician (the new, fabulous one) the other day and he told me she needs to wear orthodics (braces on her feet) for 6 months to a year. He said I needed to meet with a physical therapist to work out the details. The alarming moment: after he looked her over he said "well, it's not mild cerebral palsy so that's good."

wha?

yes, that's good.

He also noticed how flexible she is-- she can bend her legs at the knee in a way most of us can't (double jointed). She can bend them up! Same with her elbows and fingers... they all bend both ways. I had no idea and I was amazed!

When I got home and told Joe he immediately looked excited and said "She's a future olympian! Michael Phelps can do that!!"

So I googled:

"Phelps' double-jointed ankles allow him to do a ballerina's 'pointe' standing on the tips of the toes. It allows him to whip his feet as if those are flippers and break loose."

Holy cow.

I will be pleased if she can simply walk heel, toe, heel, toe. :)
