yes, I was (and still am--on Soapnet!) a fan of Donna Martin, Kelly Taylor, Brenda & Brandon Walsh, Steve Sanders, Brian Austin Green (is that even his name anymore?) and Dillon "I'm too good to go back to the zip code that made me" McKay. I never missed an episode. It came out when I was in high school and carried through college and we would literally have 90210/Melrose nights. Donna Martin Graduates!!

So there's a new 90210 starting on 9/2 and I have mixed feelings. It would be perfect if they would drop all the newbies and pay the old cast a bunch of cash to come back. But instead it looks as though the skanky girl from Nip/Tuck (one of the best shows on TV) and two other not-so-conservative chicks are the new Kelly, Brenda and Donna. Ewwww. And most of the boys from the old crew are blowing off the new show because it appears they have Lifetime movies and Dancing with the Stars knocking at their doors. The full page ad of the new show (the pool shot) shows those three girls and then three guys that don't even have the 90210 "hair." No mullets, no high hair... nothing. No Cindy and Jim Walsh!!! What about Nat at the Peach Pit?!

I'm no TV ratings genius, but I think it's fair to say that a high percentage of the people watching will be like me- Thirty-somethings hoping for a glimpse of Donna and David living happily ever after or at the very least Ray Pruet breaking up their marriage. But instead they promote all the newbies and hope for a ratings miracle. Well, I will tune in, but they better show my faves or I'm going back to Tori & Dean.
