So Rita the housekeeper was here, cleaning one day (and keeping me so happy, by the way), and then she was gone. The company that employed her went bankrupt and actually didn't pay her for the last month of work (which was so upsetting). So the day she was supposed to show up, she didn't. It took 3 days for me to realize that the company went belly-up. Then a knock at my door... and it was Rita and her daughter. It was sad, really. Rita doesn't speak English (she's Hungarian), but her daughter is pretty fluent. Her daughter explained that the company went out of business, the owners sold their house and no one got paid. She was almost begging for me to keep her as she needed the job. So I decided to pay her the same amount I was paying the company. I felt good about it, after all-- she deserved to be paid fairly for the work she was doing. She agreed and we set a weekly time. Then that day arrived and again, no Rita. So sad! I was actually worried because she has a pretty strong work ethic. I checked the messages and there she was-- Rita's daughter-- explaining that her mother is no longer cleaning houses. And that was it. Another unexplainable thing (that leaves my floors and sinks without their sparkle).
Ironic. I finally decide I need some help with this house and just like that... she's here, she's gone, she's here, she's gone.
oh well. the hunt continues for the next Rita. I know, you're on the edge of your seat waiting to see what could possibly happen next...

That's sad... I'm seriously thinking about bringing my Rita (our wonderful housekeeper here) with me when I return... and she'll be looking for other houses to fill up her week since my place will only need her twice a week.
twice a week??!!!!... I'm dying here Carolina!
