eyes on miami.

we returned from miami last night. we took noah to Bascom Palmer Eye Institute down there because they are, well, the best. If you have eye issues they are the best in the country and people travel from coast to coast to see the doctors there. After a long six hour appointment we left with great news. His eyesight has not worsened much since the last appointment. Surgery is not an option with the eyesight not staying consistent. We need to follow-up with his Tampa docs every 3-4 months and get dialated yearly. He did state that he does not have perfect eyesight even with his glasses, but that he should be able to pass a drivers test with them (great news). His occasional crossing of his left eye is caused by overcompensation of that eye when trying to focus. Luckily he only does it for seconds-- the doctor said if it were 30 minutes, instead of 30 seconds, then that would be a problem. He explained that kids eyes are so strong that they have the ability to overcompensate and move them in a way that adults can't. This doctor was very thorough and gave us tons of information. We feel better knowing we have done everything we can in regards to his eyes. The trip down, the hotel stay and the trip back was no fun-- especially with Fay lingering around. But I do have to thank Kristy for the Leapster advice. I cannot tell you what a lifesaver it was. And in the car it stays! ;)

Some may love Miami, but I can't say that it's anywhere I will be going back to right off. I was not impressed. I will stick to this part of the sunshine state.

Yay to the Leapster - car only rule! Glad it worked out, and SO glad for the news about his eyes.
