picked noah up early for school today because he had a doctor's appointment. I love going in a little early because I get to steal some time with the teacher without all the chaos. She said outside of lunch (in the words of Anna "he doesn't eat enough to keep a bird alive!") he is doing very well. She said that she is "shocked" that he just started talking in December because his speech is so far along. Oh, that warms my heart! Then she said, "yes, he is a smart boy." Now, I knew that (he's brilliant to me!) but it is so heartwarming to hear. Someone else recognizes his amazing abilities and potential. Okay, so I wanted to hug her... but I didn't!
On the way out I ran into one of the moms going in and I told her what the teacher had said (I was still glowing). She looked happy and then said, "I am so happy for you, but inside a part of me is just sad because I want that for (her daughter) so badly." And I remembered how that felt. Just last year I felt it. All the kids that talked, but mine didn't. And there was no certainty that he would. I had faith as best as I could and when I didn't, I would hope and pray to find faith again. My heart broke for her. Because there is nothing I can say or do to help her to feel better. I tell her that I understand and I offer support. Because it is a long journey. And today I was reminded that we have jumped some seriously big hurdles.
And for the "school update"... it's fabulous. The new school is exactly where he should be. He is happier and runs into school without so much as a "goodbye" (that's a good thing--he's excited!). He is going potty without any accidents so far. He is learning the routines and outside of eating, is just having a great time.
(((sigh))) of relief.

We all know he is a smart boy, but it sure is good to hear someone else verify that. I am sure that made your whole day! Miss you guys (in Reese's words) already,
and I just left yesterday!
I did not mean to be anonymous, don't know how I did that, but it was posted by me.
So glad you followed your gut and switched schools! He sounds so happy now - can't wait to see it for myself soon.
